- 2 boiled potatoes, mashed
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 3 green chilies (chopped)
- Batter for coating:
- 1 cup gram flour
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Water as required to make a thick batter
- Oil for deep frying
1. In a large bowl, mix together mashed potatoes, salt, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and chopped coriander leaves. Then add the chopped green chilies and mix again until everything is well combined.
2. Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape each portion into an oval shaped patty (alu chop). Set aside.
3. To make the batter for coating, in a separate bowl combine gram flour, chili powder and salt with just enough water to make a thick batter.
4. Heat the oil in a deep fryer and dip each patty into the batter, making sure it is well coated.
5. Carefully drop them one at a time into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from heat and drain onto paper towels.
6. Serve your tasty Nepali Alu Chops with chutney or ketchup as desired!
