- 2.5 pounds (1 kg) of rice, washed and soaked overnight
- Β½ liter (500 ml) water or milk
- 2 cups (500 ml) ghee
- 2 cups (500 ml) sugar
- 1 liter cooking oil
- 1 cup wheat flour (optional)
- Β½ teaspoon baking soda (optional)
- Cardamom and cashews, to taste (optional)
1. Drain any excess water from the soaked rice and mix it with ghee and sugar until a fine paste forms.
2. Cover the mixture and leave it at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours to allow all ingredients to melt and mix.
3. Heat a pan with the cooking oil, ensuring it is deep enough to float Sel roti in.
4. When the oil is hot, pour the batter into it as a continuous ring until it turns brown/golden on both sides.
