- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 slice of white bread
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
- 10 sliced pistachios
1. Remove sides of the bread and cut the bread in small pieces.
2. Blend bread pieces, cornstarch, and a 1/2 cup of milk, making smooth paste.
3. Boil remaining milk in frying pan on medium high heat. Stir milk to avoid burning and sticking on the bottom of the frying pan and stir the sides of the pan to avoid scalding. Let it boil for 12 to15 minutes (milk has to boil form 3 1/2 cups to 2 1/2 cup).
4. Reduce heat to medium and add the bread mixture to the milk in frying pan and cook for another 4 minutes.
5. Now add sugar, pistachios and cook for two more minutes. Turn off the heat and add cardamom powder.
6. Cool the milk to room temperature and pour into a bowl, wrap it making it air tight, put it in freezer for 7 hours - Kulfi is ready!
