Ingredients

- 1 kg chicken - 500 gm basmati rice - 4 table spoon garam masala - 50 gram butter - 4 table spoon garlic (chopped) - 1 cup onions (sliced) - 4 table spoon ginger (chopped) - 3 table spoon red chili powder - 1 table spoon coriander powder - 5 table spoon oil - 2 cups yogurt - Three fourth cup tomato (chopped) - 4 Bay leaf (tejpatta) For the marinade: -1 and half table spoon red chili powder -2 tablespoon ginger chopped -1 tablespoon garam masala powder -1 tablespoon turmeric powder -1 cup yogurt -Salt as you taste For Garnishing: -Half gram saffron (dissolved in half cup of water) -2 table spoon rose water

Method

1. Cut the Chicken into big pieces and put all the ingredients of the marinade (mentioned above) in a bowl and mix well. Add chicken Pieces to it and leave for an hour. 2. Heat a thick pan and add oil. When the oil is hot, add sliced onion, and cook till golden brown. Add chicken pieces to the pan and stir well. Add salt, ginger, garlic, garam masala, turmeric powder and all other spices and cook well. Add yogurt and mix well. 2. While the chicken is being cooked, boil water, on a separate pan and add some garam masala and bay leaf to it. When water boils, add rice and cook till ¾ done. Drain the excess water and keep aside. 4. Now take a separate pan and add a layer of cooked chicken, followed by partially cooked rice and repeat and cover with a lid. Turn the heat to medium-low. Cook for ~10 minutes. Serve hot with your favorite garnishing!
